Alcoholic Liver Disease

Alcohol must be processed by the liver and passed through the kidneys and into the urine. Some of the alcohol is processed through the lungs and passed out through the breath. Generally two or more drinks are day are considered unhealthy. For an alcoholic, especially if the alcoholic liver disease is onset, any alcohol can be seriously debilitating. In China and Japan, a plant called kudzu is given to alcoholics and seems to reduce their desire for alcohol.
Alcohol robs the body of the essential vitamins and minerals it needs for good health. Alcohol can be fattening - that should be enough to slow some drinkers, but for the serious drinker, the liver is eventually destroyed and maintaining proper levels of blood sugar becomes impossible and may place the user permanently in a home where a rigid diet must be maintained in order to assure the patient does not become comatose and die.
