Aloe Vera:
Topical:
Internal:
A generally accepted topical applique in the USA for minor burns, cuts, and abrasions. Orally it is used as a laxative - there is a possibility that the use of it may have a 'tonic' effect upon the parts of the GI tract that prevent ulcers from forming. Aloe vera contains a polysaccharide that has immune enhancing and antiviral activity and has been shown to be effective as an adjunct in the treatment of AIDS. Topically it is applied liberally - it is probably best in its purest form. There are no studies indicating optimal quantity when drinking aloe vera juice but more than a quart a day is NOT recommended. Acemannan is a key ingredient of aloe vera, but the amounts vary by manufacturer.
