Fiona was born in in Sheffield, England and migrated to Australia with her family as a 7 year old child. Her father, a chemist and later Anglican minister, first settled in Adelaide and after a few years went to Hobart Tasmania where the family still lives, although Fiona, her husband David, and their daughter Amy, lived the last 10 years of Fiona's life in Canberra, the nation's capital.

Always a lover of nature, with her compassionate nature Fiona soon drifted into nursing. Unfortunately a tragic accident meant she was forced to leave her profession and she remained in severe pain for the rest of her life. She was drawn to metaphysics including astrology. and through her astrology studies she met the love of her life, David Targett. The two of them very quickly became astrological forces to be reckoned with. Fiona's compassionate approach made her a popular counsellor, and the combined prodigious knowledge of she and David meant they quickly became the only teachers of astrology in Tasmania to go to if you wished to learn astrology.

Also community minded, it wasn't long before Fiona began to work tirelessly for the Australian astrological community serving for several years on both the local association committee and the National committee of the Federation of Australian Astrologers. For many years she served as an Examiner on the National Exam Board, the qualifying body of the FAA and was a lecturer at FAA conferences.  She was co-convenor of a very successful FAA conference in Hobart, a major contributing factor in helping the FAA back onto its financial feet after a significant financial problem.

In 2000 Fiona was struck down by a very aggressive breast cancer. She undertook radical treatment and unfortunately, between the cancer treatment and her ever present severe back pain, she had to virtually retire from much of her active astrology work. After five years it appeared she had beaten the breast cancer, and had begun to work and live and enjoy her life all over again, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer metastases in the liver. Sadly, her body already severely weakened by all she had endured, from this one, she could not recover.

The Australian astrology community mourns one of its most popular and finest astrologers.

On a personal note, Fiona was a dear and close friend of mine as well as a colleague. Although several years younger, and with far more problems than I ever had, she unfailingly gave of her love and support, not only to me but to anyone who needed it, all without complaint. She will always have a special place in my heart.
