February 7, 1925—October 9, 2009

Joan McEvers, internationally known astrologer, author and teacher, passed away on October 9, 2009, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She is survived by her husband, Dean, their four children and five grandchildren.

Through her long and highly successful experience as a teacher of astrology, Joan, with her co-author Marion D. March (1923-2001) developed a method and an approach that became widely known and used all over the world.  They co-authored the popular, now classic, six-volume instructional series, The Only Way to Learn Astrology (ACS Publications). Joan also authored 12 Times 12 for ACS, and edited a series of anthologies, The New World Astrology series for Llewellyn Publications. Her articles have appeared in numerous national and international publications.

Joan began her study of astrology in 1964, was self-taught at first, and then in 1969, she studied with Ruth Hale Oliver, and began teaching and counseling. Although Joan and Marion lived very busy lives in separate states, they managed to work together often and well.  They co-founded Aquarius Workshops and Aspects Magazine.  Joan also served as an AFAN coordinator.  At the 1989 United Astrology Congress, Joan and Marion were honored with the prestigious Regulus Award for Astrological Education.
