Mellie Uyldert

One of Holland's Grand Ladies in astrology, Mellie Uyldert, passed away
Sunday May 10, at the respectable age of 100 years. She was not only
well known in astrology, but also very instrumental for the revival of the
interest in natural healing, herbs, precious stones and metals. In
astrology she held a somewhat outside position from the groups, but she
was very well known with the larger public, having written dozens of
books, some of which were translated in English and German. Her passing
was mentioned on the radio and in most Dutch newspapers just to show how
well known she was over here (Jupiter in the 10th.)
.
With many planets in Gemini in the 9th as well as Pluto she was both
outspoken as well as naive towards the opinions of other people, she was
condemned and praised alike. She had a large house in Belgium which
originally was the reason I moved there parttime in 2003, having lived
there for a few years to follow up on a few shared ideals for astrology.
Some ISAR board members will remember the wonderful workshops we organized
there where they attended and gave talks.

Mellie Uyldert wrote her own magazine ("The Candleflame") for a new age
since 1946 and gave lectures up to 96 years of age. One of the very few
who kept the flame of spiritual astrology alive throughout her career, it
is kind of telling that she left this world at the end of Uranus in
Pisces. When Uranus gets into Aries, I believe, astrology has to reinvent
itself somehow, and I hope it will be with gratitude to our elders, of
which Mellie certainly was one for many people.
