LYNNE BURMYN, M.A.
1944-1988

According to her brief memorial in Aspects, Winter, 1988, Minneapolis astrologer, Lynne Burmyn called her chart service Womynscope. She had a master's degree and was a therapist and teacher for many years before devoting herself to astrology. She was the author of Planets in Combination and Sun Signs for Kids, both out of print and unavailable through our usual sources. She also created a computerized service for children's charts called Child Print.

A serious researcher, she put together a study of 1,053 timed charts of Lesbian births, which she mailed to anyone who wanted it. It was a statistical study using hypotheses, procedure, controls, and results. Anyone knowing what happened to her research data, please let us know.

BIRTH AND DEATH DATA: Don Borkowsi notes, "I got Lynne Burmyn's data in the Mercury Hour many years ago. She was born on December 30, 1944 in Boston, MA at 6:35 a.m. EWT." Mary Balmes, Lynne's client and friend, sent a copy of the memorial card at Lynne's funeral service, which also says that she was born December 30, 1944, and died on September 9, 1988, of cancer.

Mary Balmes wrote for this memorial:
"I met Lynne in 1979, I think, when she had a small office in South Minneapolis. I found her name in the yellow pages, and the name was so gentle and down to earth and that's why I chose her. She always said that she kept the ad in the pages because it brought people like myself to her. She always had a gentle place in her heart for all the people she met.

"In 1986 I was delighted with the news that I was having twins. In honor of Lynne, one of the girl's middle name is Lynne. She was so excited and thrilled with this idea. I can still remember her coming over and holding Kimberly Lynne, and Lynne couldn't get over how small her hands and feet and body were!!!! These were moments of true pleasure for her. At her memorial service, they had a slide showing of her life. The last picture was of her and Kimberly Lynne. I didn't stop crying for a long time!!!" Mary Balmes
