EVANGELINE DAY

Antoinette Day gives the following history about Evangeline Day, known in the Thirties and Forties as, "The Futurist."

She was born October 4, 1903, at 3:30 AM Gardner, MA 42N35 72W00. A Life Member of the American Federation of Astrologers, she studied and worked with Ospinsid, Manly Palmer Hall, and G.Cardinal Legros. She had the first radio astrological program on WMCA, in the 1930's. She gave advice and did forecasting for the public, and Walter Winchell called her the 'girl with the golden voice'.

Evangeline predicted the 1929 stock market crash. After that prediction, many engaged her for advice in the market, and she was one of the first women to have a seat on the Stock exchange.

Among her many well-known clients were the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. Letters from the Duchess are available, and in one she reiterates that Evangeline dubbed the Duke, 'The King who would not wear a paper crown."

She translated works of Nostradamus from French to English. She was appointed assistant coordinator for the Theosophical Assembly. She ran the School of Theosophy and Astrology from 1960 to 1999, which was called 'The Little School'. She was also a guest lecturer at the New York University. One of the highlights of her career and life was meeting the Dalai Lama.

During World War II, she did volunteer work to help the war effort. She rode as an ambulance attendant for returning soldiers for the Red Cross and received a citation for it. In addition to her other achievements and work outside of the astrological world, she did charitable works for fund raising for Doctor Albert Schweitzer.

The date of her passing into the light was July 23, 1999, at 5:45 PM, Wayne, NJ, in her 96th year on this plane. A few years back she told me "I was keeping her here", and we'd smile and hug. I had my attorney draw up a contract (which she signed) agreeing she would live for one hundred years and thereafter, an option for me to renew.

We meet at her home in New Jersey after she had 'retired' there from her long career and life in NYC. The recognition was immediate and we became 'chela and guru,' She was a fascinating and highly intelligent soul; I am totally and completely indebted to her. A few years after we meet, she 'adopted' me and I took her name, DAY. I am looking forward to having her name among your 'greats' of Astrology, for she certainly is one of them.
