NANCY ANNE HASTINGS
(1945-1991)
Nancy Hastings, Astrologer

Nancy Hastings was a respected astrologer from Massachusetts, certified professional by the American Federation of Astrologers (PMAFA). She was very active in the organizations, serving on the board of NCGR and as president of the New England Astrological Association. Her great promise was cut short when she died of cancer at the age of 46.

BIRTH AND DEATH DATA: AstroDatabank gives the following information, rated A, from the birth certificate as quoted in a letter from her to Steinbrecher. She was born January 18, 1945, at 11:20 PM EWT, in Attleboro, MA, 71W17; 41N57. She died on December 16, 1991, at 9:55 AM, in Concord, MA, of bowel cancer.

She had Sun, Mars, and Mercury in Capricorn, and the latter two were part of a tight Grand Cardinal Cross. All the planets in the configuration fell into the powerful Gauquelin sectors. Besides Mars and Mercury on the IC, it also contained Saturn in Cancer on the Midheaven but in the ninth, the Moon in Aries, and Neptune on the Ascendant in Libra.

TRIBUTES TO NANCY HASTINGS:

Edie Custer wrote in Mercury Hour, April, 1992:

"Who is not aware of Nancy Hasting's reputation, her credentials in our field? She was certainly regarded as one of our foremost astrologers and her service through NCGR to the community is also well known.

"Nancy was my friend for many years. We shared many a room and many a glass of scotch in the evening. I valued her friendship greatly and am very grateful that she was able to make the Seven Hills Conference of April, 1991, in Lynchburg. It was probably the last conference she did. I know I am not the only one who will miss her sense of humor, her warmth, her friendship."

Michael Levesque adds:

"Nancy wrote another excellent book, one of my favorites - "The Practice of Prediction" published in 1989 by Samuel Wieser and apparently now out of print. This book, I consider her best because it teaches synthesis of transits, progressions and their aspect patterns to each other in the natal environment.

"Nancy and I had just begun a student - teacher relationship when she passed on for which, much to my chagrin, I, we, all lost a truly great astrologer who really understood chart synthesis."

Michael Levesque
