Larry Howard

1953 - 2009

Lawrence Oliver Howard was born August 11, 1953 at 5:15 PM at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, NY.  His parents were Oliver and Alethia Howard and he was the oldest of four brothers.  At the time of his death on September 22, 2009 at 2:22 PM in Brooklyn, he was married to Tarot reader Bethany Birkett, his wife of sixteen years.

Larry became fascinated with astrology when he toured as a musician in the early 70's and began studying in earnest during that period -- before, between, and after gigs.

By the early 80's, he was proficient enough in astrology to teach at InnerVision, a school located in Manhattan that had classes in astrology, palmistry, tarot, numerology, and other allied arts.  It was at InnerVision that he met Bethany, who also taught at the school.  During this period, he also worked as a practicing astrologer in New York City.

After a time, however, he began a career as an Access database consultant/programmer for non-profit organizations, foundations -- and also for other astrologers who needed help with various computer issues.  Eventually, his astrology practice took a back seat to his growing computer business, which consumed the bulk of his time.  Yet, he never gave up his love and enthusiasm for astrology, continually reading and studying and talking astrology with his many friends and colleagues, all of whom remember him fondly for his Leonine warmth, generosity, and outgoing personality.  He was a remarkably gifted and skilled astrologer, whose former clients still comment to this day on how much he had helped them during their sessions with him.

Larry's life ended too soon, but it was a full life, graced with marital love, an abiding joy, a host of friends, good food and drink, music, laughter -- and a never-ending passion for astrology.

Mattie Ulbano (Bethany’s friend from Bernstein & Pinchuk) would like to share a memory of Larry. Although you may not be here physically with us, spiritual you are. As the stars shine in the universe so will you in our hearts. No matter what obstacles came your way, you handled it so smoothly. You give us courage and strength through it all.
