ROBERT CARL JANSKY
(1932-1981)

Robert Jansky

Of her mentor and friend, medical Astrologer, Eileen Nauman writes,

"Bob, as far as I'm concerned, is the Twentieth Century Father of Medical Astrology. With his biochemistry background coupled with his knowledge of astrology, he wrote the first modern text on this in an easy-to-understand language anyone could grasp.

"Bob left a legacy as a role model and teacher. As a teacher, he taught simply; and to me, that's the greatest compliment I can give someone who does teach. Bob never used dollar words when he could break it down (typical Virgo here) to its simplest, most understandable, digestible form. I loved him for that. So many people learned from Bob as a result--myself included among them.

"He left behind many books; so his legacy lives on. I hope, someday, that astrologers in the US give him an award for being the 20th Century Father of Medical Astrology. He really brought us a wonderful gift that keeps on giving to this day."

BIRTH AND DEATH DATA: AstroDatabank gives the following data, ranked A, given by Jansky to Lois Rodden from his memory. He was born October 25, 1932, at 5:02 AM EST, in Hackensack, NJ, 74W03; 40N53. He died of a heart attack at the age of 48 on June 9, 1981.

Bonnie Parker Svardal notes, "I was the last person to see him alive, after a workshop. He did not have his heart attack in Bakersfield. His body was discovered the next day at a rest stop or turnout on the grapevine, in the mountains between Bakersfield and Los Angeles. Time of death could have been 10:30 p.m., but was probably 10:45-11 p.m."

His chart is extremely fitting for a painstaking researcher, especially in the field of health. Besides his Scorpio Sun, he has Pluto in Cancer on the Midheaven, trining his Mercury in Scorpio. A stellium in Virgo of the Moon, Neptune, Jupiter, and Venus in the eleventh also suits a well-loved medical astrologer who emphasized nutrition.
