Emilie Kelso 1936-2008

By Gina Ortiz:

It is with great sorrow that I report the death of my mom, and longtime professional astrologer, Emilie Kelso.

A dedicated student of astrology and metaphysics for over 30 years, my Mom brought a wealth of knowledge, personal insight, and experience to the practical application of astrological principles through her astrology consultations and courses.  She maintained a busy private practice in the Denver area and offered her astrological services to clients and students worldwide.

Bon Voyage, Emilie

 By Kathleen Goodyear:

Emilie Kelso, being the quiet, self-effacing person she was, didn't toot her own horn - I feel that she was not as well known in the greater astrological community as she deserved to be. She was both an outstanding astrologer and an acutely sensitive, compassionate person.

Years ago, when I was head of Colorado Fellowship of Astrologers in Denver, I went to Emilie's home to interview her for the newsletter. To my surprise, she turned the tables on me and asked about the difficulties she could sense were going on in my life, lending her gentle, wise support. (I did finally get her to talk about her life in astrology.) Her radiant smile was always a welcome sight at meetings of both CFA and the Denver chapter of NCGR.

I lost contact with Emilie when I moved out of Colorado, but a couple of years ago, when I was going through treatment for breast cancer, I heard through the grapevine that her beloved, long-ill husband had passed on and that she had contracted lung cancer. I e-mailed her about it, and she did share what was going on, but, as was typical Emilie, she was much more interested in what was going on with me. Unfortunately, while my situation improved, hers got steadily worse.

She wasn't a smoker, so I suspected that something else was at the root of her lung cancer. I once asked her whether she felt she was carrying and transmuting world grief, and she said yes.

Even as the cancer continued to take over more real estate in her body, she always tried to look on the bright side of things. She especially treasured managing to go on a Caribbean cruise with her family despite the trip being very hard on her.

I can now see her angelic face beaming, joyful and free of pain, sending comfort to all. And she's off on a new journey! Bon voyage, Emilie!

From Emilie Kelso's own website:

Meet Astrologer Emilie Kelso

Emilie Kelso is an intelligent, well grounded astrologer who possesses a deep sensitivity and perception. She believes in and practices the kind of astrology that encourages self- responsibility, freedom of choice, transformative growth, and a whole, balanced life that honors both the physical and spiritual world. She views astrology as an invaluable tool for becoming aware of one's own individuality, creative powers and potential for growth.

Emilie's counseling and teaching methods gently and effectively unfold the layers of meaning in your birth chart and engage you in the process of reshaping and reinventing your reality to match the emerging Self. Her astrology readings and courses are designed to help you identify your own essential nature, your special place in the universe, issues which block you on your personal path, cycles of change, and optimum times for maximizing the effectiveness of your personal opportunities and important life choices.

A dedicated student of metaphysics and astrology since the early '70s, Emilie brings a wealth of knowledge, personal insight, and experience to the practical application of astrological principles. In 1983, Emilie resigned from her job as Administrative Assistant for a subsidiary of a large oil company and started her own astrology business, Inner Dimensions. She maintains a busy private practice in Southeast Aurora, Colorado (within orb of Denver) where she offers astrological counseling, forecasting, and basic and beyond home-study courses to clients and students nationwide. Emilie is a Certified Reiki Practitioner and a member of National Council for Geocosmic Research and Association For Astrological Networking.

... And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud
was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.

Emilie's spiritual search began in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1972, six years before Gulf/P&M transferred her to Denver. Emilie struggled with many of the same obstacles, doubts, and fears that her clients face in their evolutionary journey. After much searching and intense study, astrology seemed to be where she could find answers to the questions about her Self, her life, her spiritual journey, and the profound effect her social and childhood conditioning had on her adult life. Through the pursuit of metaphysics and astrology, Emilie began to experience an inner transformation, and suddenly every aspect of her external life started to change--positive relationship changes, relocation, and a total career change to a field that honors who she truly is. Astrology taught her that life has choices beyond mere survival! These are the things Emilie takes great delight in imparting to her clients and students.

Emilie's gentle, loving, supportive husband of twenty-four years passed away in October 2006. He had great respect for her metaphysical/spiritual focus and her need to "reach for the stars". Bob, an Aquarian, was a retired electronic components salesman. Emilie has two unique and gifted grown children (Mike and Gina are also Aquarians) and a very special granddaughter (Breyana is a Sadge), plus a large, delightful step-family. In case you are wondering, Emilie is a Gem/Can... 29-degree Gemini Sun and 29-degree Cancer Moon... with Leo rising.
