In Memory of
Kasey (Coraelsie Faye) Kester

January 1, 1945 to December 21, 2008

On Winter Solstice December 21, 2008, the Twin Cities lost one of its most revered metaphysical teachers and healers, Kasey (Coraelsie) Kester. After a lifetime of health problems, Kasey spent her last year battling kidney failure.
Kasey found time from her “day job” as a legal secretary to serve at least 8 years on the board of STARS (Society for Teaching, Astrological Research and Study), the Minnesota Chapter of NCGR, as both treasurer and recording secretary. She was always a supportive volunteer and we cherished her wry comments and gifted teaching. She was the priestess of many STARS’ rituals and some of you may have seen her Leo Moon when she embodied and sang beautifully her favorite role of Saturn at the NCGR conference in Minneapolis, 2003.

Kasey spent a lifetime immersed in metaphysical exploration. During her childhood in North Dakota she was adopted into the Blackfoot nation and was honored with the name “Princess Blue Eyes”. She was also involved in Christian life. After college she lived many years as a feminist Jew and a trip to Israel was a major highlight in her life. After moving to Minneapolis in mid life she became a scholar of astrology and dedicated herself to the “Northern Path of the Goddess”. She became a Reiki healer and generously shared her talents with any who asked, including those with terminal illnesses. In recent years she developed her talents as a shaman and regularly performed earth healing rituals.

A gypsy at heart, Kasey was a gifted reader of palms, runes and tarot cards. Many felt that she was able to find exactly the right wisdom to share with those who came to her. They felt seen clearly and accurately, some for the first time. Kasey always had students. After graduating from Minot State College at the age of 19 she began her career life teaching high school French and English. Later she worked on a master’s degree in counseling elders. Throughout life she would put together courses when anyone asked and patiently fed materials to those who would use them, when they needed them. She had a talent for motivating her students to reach new levels of accomplishment and understanding. Her seemingly simple explanations were original and rich with perspectives drawn from the disparate paths of her experience and study.

Kasey was particularly talented with imagery and symbols. She stated “Symbols have always spoken to my innermost being; in many ways I see life through symbols.” She was attracted to the Sabian and Chandra symbols for the 360 degrees of the zodiac.

She studied them and wrote about them in pairs of new/full moon cycles. Archives of some of these writings are available at http://web.archive.org/web/20020603235721/www.planetreports.com/lunarcycle.html
Coraelsie (Kasey) Kester was predeceased by parents, Charles and Arlene Kester, her brother Larry Kester and her sister Charleen Kester Boren. She is survived by sisters, Carrie and Betty Kester, a niece, Katie Boren, and nephews, Robert and David Boren. She is missed by many whose lives she touched. After a lifetime moving in an uncooperative body, we see her now enjoying an after life, having fun with friends and family, dancing and frolicking with her assorted spirits and dragons.
