Picture was taken at the first UAC conference
in San Diego, June 1986.
Ruby Miller was an astrological "constant" in
Bakersfield for nearly forty years. She was a founding member and officer of the
San Joaquin Astrological Association which lasted 20 years (1981-2001). With her
energy and Arian enthusiasm she taught astrology during most of that time at
Insight Bookshop and edited the Association's newsletter, "Starlight."

She was an avid researcher on astrological
techniques and used much of the knowledge she gained through her studies of Ivy
Goldstein-Jacobson's works. As she knew her time was winding down I asked her to
provide a bio. She wrote in 2009:
"I feel my life's path is to discover who I am,
North Node in Virgo in the 1st house. Through the study of astrology I am
traveling on 'that' path and heading 'that' direction. The old adage "Know
Thyself" really seems to apply very much to me. I think my own individuality is
what I must learn, not to be just a member of a group but the discovery of
myself as a separate entity which can unite at will with the group.

"My Aries Sun tells me also to be my own self, and
as the Sun rules my Ascendant, to express myself with all the independence and
energy of my own Sun. Through astrology I've been able to see my faults upon
which to make corrections, and also, my qualities, and thereby gain a self-worth
which is so important when one is learning who one is.
"My North Node's ruler is Mercury in the 9th house,
which says that by reaching toward 'higher learning' for my self expression
(Mercury) is my right path. I truly feel astrology is my road sign on my path
because my Sun in Aries (8th) is preceded in oriental appearance by Uranus, also
in the 8th in Pisces.

"I feel like I'm going forward in this life and no
longer standing still. And so, I continue to strive."
A further note on astrology, she wrote: "I think my
interest is a continuation from many lifetimes. It's like a compulsion for
me...a very strong attraction. I'm fascinated with it, and it continuously
amazes me by proving true time and time again."
TRIBUTES:
I learned so much from Ruby. She was a wonderful
teacher and I think back through time about the heritage of her information
transference.
She knew her time to pass was close and she gave
her Tarot cards to one of my dear friends. I use the cards to do a reading when
I go to sleep and when I wake up
I feel like she is with me everyday, even thought I
haven't seen her for over twenty years and will not see her on this plane
again,
