Paul Reeder

(1954 - 2010)

Sadly, Paul has passed from this world to the starry heavens. Paul was instrumental in getting the Guild a web presence and was webmaster for many years. He was involved in the Guild in the early days and many of the older members have fond memories of Paul. He is immortalized in the professional astrology world for his appearances in the film "Return of the Magi". Paul ran the Center for Spiritual Astrology here in Tucson (see below), which combined astrology and spirituality and healing. Paul had hundreds of clients and students and friends who are still mourning his loss. He was truly a pillar of strength to his community and all who were blessed by his presence and insight. He will be sorely missed here on Earth. As Paul would say: "Bless your heart." Bless your's, Paul.

Biography of Paul Reeder from his website:

Born in Maryland, raised mostly in Indiana

I was born September 7, 1954 at 2:15 pm, EST, in Leonardtown, MD. The son of an electrical engineer, (my dad) and a computer programmer (my mom) I felt an unusual interest in spiritual and philosophical subjects at an early age. I remember having a reverant and loving attitude towards the Divine at age 4, and mystical dreams started at age 12 and 9 months. This in spite of the influence of conservative and scientific parents.

Early work as a Spiritual Astrologer

My study of astrology began in 1979 when my physics professor, Rob Werner, pointed out that my opinions about astrology (cynically and superstitiously prejudiced against) were based upon ignorance (as all superstition is...). Obsessively driven to the study, I began to practice astrology professionally in 1984, and in 1985 I was introduced to the study of yoga psychology. While not a founding member of the Tucson Astrologers' Guild, through the years I have played a significant role as an organizer and contributing many programs of my own to the monthy meetings they hold.

In 1987 I started working as a teacher of astrology and public speaker. I have lots of energy and enthusiasm, a fairly deep understanding, and a commitment to healing transformation that underlies all my work.

Taking a break as a professional musician

In 1994, with one of my oldest friends in this life, Mark Maxwell, I took some time off full-time spiritual astrology to play some music. Mark and I have been playing saxophones together since the 8th grade and played jazz together in high school. For several years, while continuing to practice astrology part-time, I focused on playing, recording, producing and selling CDs with Mark. If you love the saxophone played sweetly, you really should check out his music.

While I returned to a full-time practice and teaching of astrology in 1999, Mark has continued to produce and sell beautiful, loving, and healing music. To date he has sold well over 400,000 CDs directly to the public as an independant player, composer, arranger, producer, and marketer. Its quite an accomplishment, and I am proud of him and pleased with the role I played in the beginning.

Returning to the vocation of practicing and teaching astrology and spiritual principles

In the fall of 2001 I began presenting programs on yoga philosophy, yoga psychology, and the practice of yoga technics in the healing and development of personal consciousness. That first course drawing from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali was presented at the Providence Institute in Tucson, Arizona. Later I served on the faculty of the Yoga Teacher Training certificate program of the Providence Institute presenting a portion of the yoga philosophy course work and teaching from the Bhagavad Gita.

Combining the models of astrology, yoga, and depth psychology, I have developed my skills to serve those who wish to become more fully conscious and work towards self-mastery. My work is empowering and uplifting even in our most challenging situations.

TRIBUTES:

What a terrible shame. Paul was a very special man. I made a point of checking in with him every once in a while and his guidance was always spot on. It was time to do that again and now I learn of his passing. I only wish I could have said goodbye. Have other folks put tributes up to him? He was so funny and gentle and thoughtful.
