Frances Sakoian
was the author of 19 down-to-earth and readable astrology texts, which many of us dog-eared
and virtually memorized in our student days. Perhaps best remembered were
those she co-authored with Louis Acker, still available at Barnes and Noble and
other chains today: Astrologers Handbook and The Astrology of Human Relations.
Her biography in AstroDatabank adds that she was Director of
the New England School of Astrology and president of
the New England Astrological Association. She was an AFA
Board Member and became second Vice-President in 1981.
She was the first U.S. teacher of an accredited course in
astrology, which she taught at JFK University. She also taught a syndicated television series on astrology.
Between that and her mass-market books with Louis Acker, it can be said that she did a great
deal to spread the word about astrology to a wider public.
BIRTH AND DEATH DATA: AstroDatabank gives the following
birth information, rated A, which she gave to Ed Dearborn. She was born October 8, 1912, in Berea, OH, 41N22; 81W52, at 5:07 AM EST.
She died on March 3, 1989, in Mt. Desert, ME, at 1:22 PM after a series of strokes.
