RAE SINCLAIRE

A TRIBUTE TO RAE SINCLAIRE

  by Molly Talbot

In 1982 I attended a tarot course and paired up with a lady called Rae Sinclaire. She read my cards and said I was at a major turning point and it would be beneficial for me to do some personal work. Synchronistically she was running a course the next night! She had Gemini Sun and Moon so was a great talker and persuader. I decided to go and from that moment my life changed forever.

At the time, many fellow astrologers were also attending Rae’s classes. In fact several of us gathered 26 years later in Bundanoon NSW Australia to celebrate her life. Rae didn’t just run personal growth groups, she encouraged us to build friendships which continue today. We gathered at her home once a month for a sharing followed by a meal at the local Chinese restaurant.

Rae used a practical and psychological approach to astrology. Our regular conversations would always begin with “Well I have Pluto squaring my Moon and Mars on my Sun ….” She felt astrology was a wonderful tool for personal guidance and self awareness. To her, it provided a framework for understanding her life’s journey.

Rae has offered direction and insight to many people over the years, as an astrologer, counsellor, mentor and friend. She learnt astrology back in the days when there were no books and no computers. Our roles reversed as I taught her how to use Solar Fire at the age of 89 and introduced her to Chiron and its place in the chart. Maybe it is significant that transiting Chiron is conjunct my Mercury now.

With Uranus in the first house and Aquarius on the 4th house cusp, Rae enjoyed moving. Her clients followed her wherever she went and once she returned to Moss Vale, a small country town a few hours south of the city, a steady stream would flow out of Sydney on weekends to listen to her wisdom and seek direction.

I visited her regularly in the past few years and always enjoyed her company. Rae’s mind was so sharp and her knowledge of astrology, philosophy, the modern and ancient world and life was remarkable. And we always had a good laugh; she had a great sense of humour. Rae never ceased working, such was her love of astrology and helping people and she gave her last reading only a few weeks before she died. She said she would get bored if she didn’t keep doing charts!

Rae was never one to seek the limelight and she didn’t advertise. “Recommendation” worked very well for her and I’m constantly amazed at the people I meet who have had readings with Rae over the years. At age 85 she moved to Moss Vale where she continued to build her business with regular local clients. Her umbrella spread far and wide.

My lasting memory of Rae was when she read from “The Prophet” by Kahlil Gibran at my marriage. It seemed fitting that the person who had given me so much guidance and vision should read such a special verse.

Rae’s passing will leave a big hole in my life. I feel richer for having known her and her wisdom will remain with me for ever. Her favourite phrase was “When the fire dies out, you’ve got money to burn!” I really embraced that as she encouraged me to take up fresh challenges. And I don’t feel her fire ever burnt out!

MORE TRIBUTES:

Rae did my horoscope 30 years ago, and she told me I would own a model agency sometime in the future, at that time it was 10 years before it happened. But it did happen.

Jennifer Whitby & I will miss her terribly as we saw her often over 30 years and really enjoyed the visits to her and her wisdom & advice.

Regards & Love Elizabeth Price
