SHIRLEY STRASBURG
(1942-1999)

Marlys Wilson, Mary Harlow, and Carol Perkins, long-time friends of Shirley's, wrote the following about her:

Shirley Strasburg, astrologer, tarot reader, numerologist, and psychic, was born August 22, 1942, 8:35 AM. CST, in Minneapolis, MN and passed away in her sleep March 14, 1999.

Shirley Strasburg was a major influence in establishing The Astrology Center in Minneapolis in the early 1980's. The Astrology Center ultimately became the grandparent of STARS, the Mpls/St. Paul NCGR Chapter. Shirley lectured at a number of conferences and appeared on several television programs during her 25 years of contributing to the astrological community.

She used a unique blend of astrology, tarot, and numerology in her consultations. Her knowledge included a profound grasp of the relationship between astrological cycles and historical events and never stopped with the metaphysical but extended into many othe areas as well. She had always wanted to work from her home, and other than her time each year at the Renaissance Festival, Shirley saw her clientele in her home and fulfilled that dream.

She had a great love for animals, nature, and humans. Shirley's clients came from all walks of life. They found her to be reliable, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. Many veterinarians sent people to Shirley for free advice on locating their lost pets.

Shirley's excellent gardening skills, along with those of Perry, her landlady and good friend, produced one of the most beautiful gardens in south Minneapolis.

Significant characteristics of Shirley's life are reflected in her Moon phase and the Sabian symbols for her Moon and Ascendant degrees. Her Capricorn Moon (10 degrees and 49 minutes) in the 4th house reads "Pheasants display their brilliant colors on a vast lawn." and this definitely describes her gardening and love of nature.

The Sabian Symbol for her Libra Ascendant (4 degrees and 22 minutes) is "A man teaching the true inner knowledge." Certainly Shirley did this in all areas of her life. She was nonjudgmental and loving, but never afraid to be honest and true.

Her Moon phase is first quarter, which represents a crisis in action, or as Bernice Grebner says in her book, Everything Has a Phase, "Going forward with action and courage." Shirley lived a unique lifestyle consistent with her beliefs.

Shirley was a true Renaissance woman who profoundly affected everyone in her environment and beyond. She is a friend who will stay with us forever.
