TOWN OF ZODIAK-2-ARIES HAS AN ADVENTURE

The Town of Zodiak

Whenever there is a problem everyone deals with it in a different way. To let you know just a little more about the folks in Zodiak we can start with a little story I heard about Aries the Ram and his headstrong ways.

The Story......

ARIES THE RAM HAS AN ADVENTURE

~*~

SUNNY SKIES One Spring Aries wants to be the first one out for a run. It’s the first warm day for months, and the first day without rain in a long, long time. The Sun is shining, birds are singing, butterflies flutter in the breeze, and the sky is blue. It is a gorgeous day!

BUTTERFLY

He is just having a grand ole time! He kicks up his heels and runs off enthusiasticly.

HAPPY ARIES

He decides that he wants to visit Taurus. He looks over towards his neighbors fields and decides to make a shortcut up the hill and over a fence he can see at the top. By going that way he thinks he can get there faster and surprise Taurus on this fine day. And besides, the hill is rather steep and quite a challenge for his muscles that haven’t been used all winter long.

So, he gallops gleefully up the hill, charging full steam ahead so he has enough momentum to jump the fence.

He can’t see what is on the other side of the fence because of all the brush in the way, but he doesn’t bother to stop and look. He just jumps anyway.

PLOP! SPLASH!

He lands right in the middle of a big, deep, mucky, nasty mudhole filled with brown, smelly, slimey water! Now he’s stuck in the deep, sticky, wet mud, and has gotten his new spring coat dirty. He tries to turn and paddle over to the harder ground, but he can’t reach the bottom, can’t move his legs, and is trapped in the mud.

ANGRY BULL

The bull, hearing shouts for help, comes trotting along, snorting and pawing angrily since he doesn’t like intruders in his pasture. Taurus arrives, looks at the sad sight of Aries stuck in the mud hole and sends Gem and Ni, (who had been perching on his back all morning long, enjoying the sunshine), to get some help.

"They are such gossips! They will tell everyone!" thinks Aries in embarrassment.

“How dare Aries disturb my peaceful day!” thinks Taurus as he snorts at the mud.

Gem and Ni fly here and there, announcing the need for help to pull Aries from the mud.

CrabbyRabbit can’t leave home she says since dinner is cooking, but she promises to get out the Band-Aids in case they are needed.

Leo, who is playing a game in his den, cannot be bothered with the problem. After all, it isn’t HIS pasture, is it? He says that he’d be glad to be in charge of the operation when he has the time. “Well,” he reconsiders. “I suppose I should go” he decides, since after all he is a loyal friend, and how could they manage without him? He gets up, stretches , and lopes off towards the pasture.

VirgOwl is always ready to lend a hand. He has an idea about bringing some rope. “But how long should the rope be? How deep is the mud?” he queries as Gem and Ni prepare to fly off. Neither one of the birds can answer his questions nor does VirgOwl have any rope so he flutters over to ScorpSnakes home to ask him for help.

Libra offers to go if she doesn’t have to get dirty. She can keep everyone company and give the snake a ride up the hill. ScorpSnake, the resourceful one, finds some rope. The cat totes a bucket of water to wash Aries, then lies in the grass to rest. Pisces stays in her pond meditating but Gem and Ni promise to keep her posted on the outcome.

Naturally, Leo gets everyone working together, as he stands by the side of the mud hole supervising. Saji, the curious horse, wanders by about this time and watches the operation with interest. VirgOwl measures the rope, making sure the rope is long enough to reach Aries. Libra acts as moral support. She thinks that Aries was a hero to jump that high fence. She keeps telling him how brave he is.

ScorpSnake is the one who actually crawls through the mud to give Aries the rope. Then Saji and Taurus grab the rope in their mouths and haul Aries out of the mud.

Aries thanks them for the help, but cannot see what all of the fuss is about. He got a new trail started after all. “It was just an accident” he says. He scrambles up from the ground and shakes mud over Taurus’s nice clean grass.

Cappy shows up just in time to lecture Aries on his unthoughtful and inconsiderate ways.

“Aries, didn’t you stop to think that there might be a good reason a fence was here on this corner?”

“Aries, you should look before you leap!” says the goat sternly. But Cappy is really very glad that Aries is safe.

“ Be more considerate about personal property. Look at how torn up my grass is now!!!It will take months to grow back!!You must be careful about where you go and whose territory you walk on without asking first.” Taurus says. Taurus marches off in a huff and returns to his grass.

Saji promises to show Aries a better shortcut to use next time.

Virgo starts cleaning up the mud on his feathers and washing off the rope. Everyone hugs everyone else and off they go to Cancer’s house for tea and cookies.

Aries dares Libra to a race down the hill. “Last one there is a rotten cucumber!! “ he says as he kicks up his heels and takes off.
