This is a great book with a believable heroine and the horrifying story of the monarch butterflies is only one, sad but true, part of it.

This book is a must read for anyone with environmental concerns. The author earned a master's degree in ecology and evolutionary biology before she spun off her life into writing.

Save the Monarchs! Plant Milkweed!

Barbara Kingsolver is best known for the blockbuster The Poisonwood Bible, a fictional work about a missionary family in the Congo based in part on the author’s own years in the Congo with her parents who were public health workers. This powerful book explores pain, privation and passion within a family and was an Oprah suggested read.
