A book by Barbara Kingsolver means a review is hardly necessary. No matter what she writes about, she writes it well and leaves you thinking for months on end.

Are you aware of the plight of the monarch butterflies? They are losing their winter vacation home in Mexico and their numbers are dwindling.

This is a great book with a believable heroine and the horrifying story of the monarch butterflies is only one, sad but true, part of it.

This book is a must read for anyone with environmental concerns. The author earned a master's degree in ecology and evolutionary biology before she spun off her life into writing.

Save the Monarchs! Plant Milkweed!

Barbara Kingsolver goes deep into her subject and is best known for the blockbuster The Poisonwood Bible, a fictional work about a missionary family in the Congo based in part on the author’s own years in the Congo with her parents who were public health workers.
